Fiber is the part of carbohydrates which can not be digested. It is found in the rough and tough cell walls of plants - fruits, vegetables, legumes, and grains. A lack of fiber in the diet leaves people feeling hungry and prone to overeating. Most Canadians do not even meet half of their daily fiber needs.

It adds bulk to food, which fills you up. 

It boosts metabolism. The body attempts to digest it, burning calories in the process.
